Alisa Trout, LMFT
Why I became a therapist
I believe that we are who we are because of our relationships and interactions with others. To further understand our own identity, actions, feelings, and beliefs, we must first understand how our initial ideals about life were formed, whether that be through our family of origin, past relationships, trauma, and/or societal influences. As a therapist, I like to process past experiences to see how they are effecting our current experiences. Then I like to help create a new, empowering narrative to help better our future choices.
Background & Experience
I was born and raised in a small Georgia beach town. I moved to Philadelphia in 2013 to pursue graduate studies and to get a taste of city life. Since my move, I have fallen in love with this area and the opportunities it has afforded me, both professionally and personally. I have been working as a therapist since 2015. In my spare time (or self-care time), I love to dance, cook, and find new shows to watch!
B.S. Human Development and Family Science- University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!)
MFT- Master of Family Therapy- Drexel University
EdS- School Psychology- Rowan University (currently pursuing)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PA- MF001026)
Treatment Style & Specialties
Because I am trained as a marriage and family therapist, I specialize in incorporating a multi-dimensional lens (systemic thinking) when working with individuals, couples, and families. I like to use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) interventions and incorporate self-empowerment and self-advocacy by using narrative therapy.
